Employee engagement: The softer side of workforce management yields measurable results

Employee engagement

Think employee engagement doesn’t matter? That the softer metrics of managing your workforce don’t really have an impact on the success of your organization’s mission? Believe that employee engagement is a discipline that is ultimately reserved for permanent W2 employees only?

Author Kevin Kruse would disagree. And that really isn’t a surprise, given his recent best-selling book “We: How to Increase Performance and Profits Through Full Engagement” is completely focused on the impact that employee engagement has on an organization. And that impact is all positive.

“We” is packed with plenty of stats that Kevin shared with workforce management leaders at the crowd at the 2011 RPO Summit. It was refreshing to hear Kevin proclaim that the softer elements of managing the workforce yield some of the hardest tangible results.

I was fortunate to catch up with Kevin after his address and record the below interview, which should give you a taste of Kevin’s perspective. Pay especially close attention to the last few minutes.

I’d love to hear what your organization is doing to increase employee engagement across the workforce. Leave your ideas and experiences in the comments section for some valuable discussion.
